About the role

The Kitchen Porter is instrumental in all kitchen operations. He/she ensures a continuous stock of clean tableware, including plates, bowls and cutlery to enable daily service to flow uninterrupted. Under the direction of the Head Chef, he/she maintains all preparation and the food storage areas. Includes routine and heavy cleaning, the organization of supplies and trash control. He/she is also able to assist in other sections of the kitchen, as needs arise.

Main job tasks and responsibilities

Washes dishes, pots and pans, utensils and organizes them in an efficient manner.
Washes food preparation machines and cleans floors, counters and work tables.
Ensures FOH has a constant supply of clean, polished cutlery.
Performs in-depth cleaning of walk-in freezers and refrigerators, ovens, stoves and pantries.
Assists in receiving and organizing deliveries of food and supplies.
Assists members of the kitchen team with basic food preparation.
Is a team player, willing to go the extra mile and assist other team members when necessary in order to achieve the operational objectives of the restaurant.
Complies with all necessary operational policies including: Health and Safety, Food Hygiene, Maintenance, Emergency Procedures, Alcohol Licensing.
Follows the company cleaning schedules.
Ensures compliance with the company’s policies at all times.
Makes sure the restaurant is cleaned and closed at the end of the shift.
